One of the most precious rights in our democracy—the right to vote—is under attack.
Here in Florida, Gov. Rick Scott signed a bill that makes it more difficult for Floridians to cast their ballots, restricts early vote and targets non-partisan voter registration groups.
But it’s not just in Florida. Over the past few months, extreme Republican governors have signed voter suppression legislation in swing states across the country. Many of these bills are specifically aimed at disenfranchising Democratic voters. We can’t let radical Republican governors get away with it.

A week after Rick Scott signed his vote suppression bill, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker signed an equally repressive voting rights bill into law. And new Republican governors in the key swing states of Ohio and Pennsylvania followed suit.
The slow creep of vote suppression legislation across the country is no accident—this is the Republican agenda in action.
That’s why our friends at the Democratic Governors Association have created a Voter Protection Project: to make sure people know when the right to vote is under attack in their home state. It’s why each and every time a radical Republican governor tries to overreach and enact extreme laws, the DGA stands up and tells them no.
