Early Voting has already begun and many of your fellow Floridians are taking advantage and getting their ballots in early. We at People For suggest you do the same.
It is more important than ever that progressives make our voices heard this election. The earlier we vote, the more time we can spend helping to turn out other progressives, and convincing our fellow voters about the very real threat posed by right-wing candidates and their corporate backers.
Here is the complete list of People For the American Way's Florida endorsements in this year's general election. We ask that you cast your votes for these candidates, spread the word about them and, if possible, volunteer with and donate to their campaigns.
PFAW Congressional Endorsements for Florida

Kendrick MeekElect Democratic Rep. Kendrick Meek to the U.S. Senate
PFAW endorses the Democrat in the three-way race for U.S. Senate. Congressman Kendrick Meek is the one candidate in the race who has stood up against privatizing social security, stood up for consumers against credit card companies, stood up for the environment and consistently defended a woman's right to choose. Rep. Meek supports measures to fight discrimination against LGBT Americans like the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, he voted to increase the minimum wage and he has a long history of working with PFAW on the critical issues of voting rights, civil rights and public education.
The other candidates running for this seat will not serve the interests of Floridians or defend constitutional values like Rep. Meek would in the U. S. Senate. Gov. Charlie Crist is running as an independent only because Marco Rubio ran him out of the Republican primary. Crist is an anti-choice corporatist and cannot be trusted to guard Americans' civil rights and liberties. Just a few months ago, Crist was a proud member of a party driven by far-right extremists from the Tea Party and the Religious Right. And speaking of the Tea Party and the Religious Right, Marco Rubio might as well be the poster child for both. An early Tea Party favorite, Marco Rubio is a dangerous enemy of progress and of the constitutional values so important to us.
Please do your part to get out the vote for Kendrick Meek.

Alan GraysonReelect Progressive Champion Alan Grayson to Congress, District 8
Rep. Alan Grayson is one of the strongest, most outspoken champions for Americans' rights and progressive values in either chamber of Congress. Rep. Grayson doesn't just fight the Right, he gives them hell. And as a result of his standing up to corporate special interests and far right extremists, he's on the top of the GOP's hit list this year... and progressives need to circle the wagons and fight to keep this incredibly important member of Congress.
Grayson is firmly pro-equality and pro-choice. He stands up for strong public education and workers' rights. And he's one of Congress' leading crusaders against corporate power run amok, pushing hard for Wall Street reform and more regulation of the banking industry. Grayson is also a true leader in efforts to undo the harm of the Supreme Court's decision in Citizens United v. FEC, which gave corporations the same First Amendment rights as people and allowed them to spend unlimited amounts to influence elections. Rep. Grayson anticipated the Roberts Court's pro-corporate activism and introduced several bills to counteract the harm of the decision before it even came down. He's signed our pledge to support a constitutional amendment to undo the decision, cosponsored a bill to move forward with such an amendment and has fought hard for the Republican-obstructed DISCLOSE Act.
The corporate special interests he has fought are coming after him hard, dumping money into supporting his right-wing Republican challenger, Daniel Webster. Webster is a Religious Right extremist who thinks women should not only be subservient to men but that battered women should be forced to stay in abusive relationships. His religious mentor was a Christian Reconstructionist who advocated death by stoning as a punishment for crimes like heresy, blasphemy, witchcraft, astrology, adultery, "sodomy or homosexuality," striking a parent, extreme juvenile delinquency and "unchastity before marriage."
Please fight like hell to reelect U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson in Congressional District 8.

Ron KleinReelect U.S. Rep. Ron Klein; Stop Dangerous Right-Wing Radical Allen West - Congressional District 22
Rep. Ron Klein has been a steadfast and reliable progressive in his time in Congress, standing with PFAW on choice, LGBT equality, the DISCLOSE Act and public education. He's a cosponsor of the bill to repeal Don't Ask, Don't Tell, the Employment Non-Discrimination Act and the Employee Free Choice Act. Meanwhile, Rep. Klein's opponent is an unabashed Tea Party extremist... Republican candidate Allen West even calls himself a "right-wing extremist." He's on a personal crusade against liberals, saying that liberals detest America and want our soldiers to die. He says people with "Coexist" bumper stickers would give our country away and the idea of peaceful coexistence among different religions and philosophies is un-American. He's displayed shocking anti-Muslim bigotry and says multiculturalism has failed, said President Obama caused the BP oil spill, said people should be well-armed because we have a tyrannical government... it goes on and on -- his extremism truly knows no bounds.
It is absolutely critical that progressives, moderates, independents and even rational Republicans join together to keep Allen West OUT of Congress. He's a charismatic speaker with dangerous, bigoted views and near-violent rhetoric. We can't let this be the beginning of a long career for him as a national political leader -- the way to stop West is to help progressive Rep. Ron Klein defeat him on November 2.
Pull out all the stops to help Rep. Ron Klein DEFEAT far-right radical Allen West -- reelect Ron Klein in District 22.

Joe GarciaElect Joe Garcia to the U.S. House of Representatives, District 25
Democrat Joe Garcia is a distinguished lawyer and public servant who served as the director of the Office of Minority Economic Impact for the Department of Energy in the Obama administration. He's a solid progressive, pro-choice, pro-LGBT equality, strong on public education and comprehensive immigration reform, and has the support of the labor community. His Republican opponent for this open House seat, State Rep. David Rivera, has signed the Club for Growth pledge to seek repeal of the Health Care Reform bill. He's anti-choice and has taken harsh, pro-corporatist positions against workers' rights.
Do what you can to support Joe Garcia for Congress, District 25.

State-level Endorsement in Florida

Dan GelberElect State Sen. Dan Gelber Florida's Next Attorney General
Democratic Attorney General candidate Dan Gelber is currently a State Senator and the former State House Minority Leader who has worked to stop multi-state corporations from avoiding Florida taxes and prosecuted corruption as a U.S. Attorney. PFAW is supporting him for Attorney General because of the importance of the position and because of his strong commitment to the civil rights of all Floridians. From his website:

As the Chief of the Justice Department's Civil Rights division in South Florida, I know that there are many Floridians who are mistreated simply because of who they are. I have investigated or prosecuted hate crimes, Fair Housing claims and redlining. As Attorney General I will go after those that discriminate because of who a person is. I will also stop others -- even the Florida Legislature -- from denying Floridians their civil rights, including the right to a properly funded high quality public education system that is guaranteed by Florida's constitution; and the right of children to be adopted by caring and loving parents who happen to be gay.

Please help to elect Dan Gelber Attorney General of Florida.

We hope you will support these these candidates and spread the word about the importance of voting in this election to every voter you can. For more information on voting in Florida, go to: http://election.dos.state.fl.us.
