Florida DemocratsFlorida Democrats

Thanks to your unwavering support, we won the Democratic nomination. And if there's one thing we've got plenty of right now, it's momentum. That's why we have to keep things moving and not let up for a minute. You've stuck with us throughout the primary process, now we need you to step up once again.

While we've been in a difficult primary battle, Charlie Crist and Marco Rubio have been building up their war chests. Well, I play the David role well and it's a role I'm going to relish playing in the general election. They say it can't be done. You say it can. But now we've got to catch up fast. That's why we need you to help us reach our goal of raising $50,000 before August 31 so that we have the resources we need to compete.

Click here to rush your donation of $5 or more to my campaign today and help us meet our goal of raising $50,000 before the end of the month so we can beat Crist and Rubio in November.

This election is about the people of Florida. That seems obvious to you and me, but when you look at my opponents, you have to wonder. With Crist, it's all about special interests. With Rubio, it's all about the Tea Party. More...

A new poll released on Monday by Quinnipiac University shows Kendrick Meek with a 10 point lead in tomorrow's Democratic primary for a Florida U.S. Senate seat.

The poll, conducted by live interviewers August 21-22, comes on the heels of two other polls released over the weekend that both showed Meek with big leads over challenger Jeff Greene. Among the 757 likely Democratic primary voters surveyed by Quinnipiac, Meek leads Greene 39 percent to 29 percent. Three percent said they would vote for Maurice Ferre, and 28 percent said they were still undecided. The poll's margin of error was 3.6 percent.

The two polls released over the weekend, an automated poll by Democratic firm Public Policy Polling and a live interviewer poll conducted by Mason-Dixon Polling and Research for a consortium of Florida newspapers, showed Meek up by 24 points and 12 points, respectively.

Quinnipiac's poll also showed Attorney General Bill McCollum with a 39 percent to 35 percent lead over Rick Scott in the Republican gubernatorial primary. Quinnipiac surveyed 771 likely Republican primary voters with a 3.5 percent margin of error.

We've all heard enough. Enough of the bickering and name calling. Enough of the political mudslinging.
And not enough of what Florida needs.
My opponents have spent their time attacking each other and me, instead of talking about how they will attack the very real challenges facing our state. And I'm calling them on it!
Here's my new ad -- the first of my campaign. I wanted you to be one of the first to see it, before it hits the airwaves across Florida early tomorrow morning.

Watch the ad, then take a minute to forward it along to your friends and family.

I'm telling Floridians exactly what I'm going to focus on as governor. I'll fight to fix our economy, improve our schools, and make our government more accountable. And I have a detailed plan to get it done.
You know I'll clean up Tallahassee. I'll let my opponents continue to play in the mud.
Click here to help me get my message out so we can keep my ads on the air, and work together to change Florida.
We have a lot of work to do, and I'm sure you'll keep doing a great job spreading my message. Together, we'll fight for Florida, while my opponents just fight each other.

Jennifer Haberkorn AP - Republicans may not be able to repeal the Democrats’ health care reform law next year, but they’re eyeing the next best thing: Deny the Obama administration the money it needs to implement the law.

Kevin Brady (left), Sharron Angle and Tim Scott are shown in a composite image. | Photos by John Shinkle and APGOP candidates across the country are running on a promise to repeal the law. But simply winning the House and the Senate wouldn’t get them there; they’d need to corral two-thirds majorities to overcome what would be an almost certain veto from President Barack Obama.

Resigned to that fact, Republicans are now readying a campaign trail message that voters should grant them the power of Congress’s purse strings so that they can choke off funding for the law.

“Our goal remains to repeal the bill and replace it, but, clearly, with the president’s veto pen, we’re going to have to take interim steps,” said Rep. Kevin Brady of Texas, the top House Republican on the Joint Economic Committee. More...
